What is PRP?

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma and it is a natural component from your own blood.

PRP is extracted from a blood sample taken from you by the doctor during your visit.

How long does it take to prepare PRP and to do the procedure?

Most PRP rejuvenating procedures, including PRP preparation, take less than an hour from beginning to end.

How does PRP work?

The areas injected with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) has a high concentration of Stem cells, growth factors and other active ingredients that promote natural healing and repair. When injected into the skin, it changes the texture of your skin, making it firmer, tighter and more youthful. When injected into the scalp, it stimulates natural regrowth of thinning hair. When injected into the genitals it boosts sexual function in both men and women (read o shot and p shot pages for more information).

How is PRP different from other cosmetic injections, such as Botox or Fillers?

Botox is a drug made from a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum called botulinum toxin. It’s used to remove wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing muscles. Botox does not improve the texture or the quality of your skin.
Dermal Fillers- are synthetic acids or sugars that act like an inflated cushion to support facial structures and to temporarily correct wrinkles and folds. As opposed to Botox and Dermal Fillers injections, PRP creates long lasting improvement in the texture and youthfulness of your skin, through boosting new collagen production and the formation of new blood vessels.

What are the risks and side effects of PRP therapy?

PRP has been used for decades in orthopedics and dentistry, and for the last 7 years in Aesthetics. So far there are no side effects reported when the procedure is done correctly. FDA approved tools used by the treating physician.
